What is your title? Describe what you do.
Licensed Psychological Associate. I do the initial psychological evaluation to determine if a child has Autism, or another neurodevelopmental disability. The assessment is a combination of play and simply interacting with the child, as well as obtaining background information from the family, and tests to determine how the child is functioning.
Helping families who have been struggling and providing a treatment plan that helps put them at ease strengthens my love for what I do.
What drew you to Behavioral Framework?
The fact that it’s a reputable company in a different state that was looking to venture into NC. I like being along for the ride and helping get our footing down here and seeing how well the company can do
What are the most rewarding parts of your job?
Being able to provide answers for families that have been struggling with what to do. Giving them a diagnosis and a treatment plan to move forward with that puts them at ease. I hear a lot of families say that other medical professionals don’t listen to them and their concerns, so being able to be that person for them is why I do what I do.
What advice would you give to someone looking to pursue a role like yours? Are there specific character traits or skills/certifications they should possess?
It helps being quick on your feet and being able to think fast and change course during an assessment if needed. There is a lot of uncertainty in this line of work, so being able to pivot is crucial. It’s also helped me to view children as “little humans,” who just want to be heard and validated. Being able to get on their level is necessary, as well as not being afraid to be silly and playful. This helps put the child at ease.
What do you like best about Behavioral Framework?
Everyone is very helpful and friendly. I know if I have a question or concern it will get taken care of quickly.
Would you recommend someone to work at Behavioral Framework? And why?
Yes. There is a very large team of capable employees that help you feel confident in your role. There are frequent check ins to ensure I have everything I need to be able to do my job
